This course is designed to be the equivalent of a one-semester introductory college course in environmental science.The curriculum for this course is based upon a syllabus published by the Advanced Placement Program of The College Board.The following topics are emphasized:ecological principles; population, economics and environmental health; land and biological resources; physical resources; and society and the environment.Laboratory and field experiencesmake up a portion of this course, and as a part of this, students should expect to pay about $25 for water quality testing equipment they will need to complete a year-long stream study project.At the completion of this course, students will have an opportunity to take the AP exam.A satisfactory score on the multiple choice and free-response portions of this exam may result in college credit from cooperating colleges and universities.
